Our Story

This community is thought to be named for the former owner of a now-old country general store standing on the corner of Mcintosh Road and Sumter Highway in Williamsburg County. While served by the Kingstree Post Office, giving it a Kingstree address, the people of this area refer to their home as Workman, or sometimes, “The Corner.”

After purchasing this building in 2012, we reopened the store under a new name, "The Corner Crossroads Store."  While we were told that this store first opened in 1932, there is still much we don't know.  If anyone has any information on the history of this store or stories to tell, we would love to hear them.  It is our goal to continue restoring this old landmark and provide you with the best service possible.
